Battlefield 6 Gamers Are Convinced: Tasks Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, notably for its premier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, many players are voicing discontent with some of the game's hardest challenges, which are necessary to unlock specific weapons.

Gamers have begun turning to custom matches created through the Portal feature to finish these tasks, highlighting just how demanding these assignments have become.

Comprehending Battlefield 6 Objectives

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. The game includes four types of assignments, but although many only reward cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of obtaining 12 of the 41 primary weapons present in the game.

Some of these restricted firearms might eventually earn a place on rankings for the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry across Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you aim to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Task

Another Reddit user brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to access the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with marksman guns

This is challenging enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and perhaps Operation Firestorm at a push if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.

The Workaround

There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This means you can cheese the system… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.

However, when tackling the tasks in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Potential Changes

It should not be shocking if some of these assignments are made easier in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

Currently, the community continues to express their views on these strenuous multiplayer missions, anticipating a fairer overall gameplay in future updates.
